Car: There are several car hire companies on the island. Driving is on the left. Speed limit 30 mph. Hired cars can not be picked up from the airport because of local regulations, they have to be delivered to your hotel, but they can be dropped off at the airport. Fuel costs US$1.84 per gallon for regular, US$1.86 unleaded. Watch out for loose goats on the roads. A local driving permit is issued on presentation of a valid driver’s licence from your home country and can be bought at car rental offices; US$10 for three months. Hitchhiking is very easy and it is also possible to hire bicycles.

Taxis: Expensive and the driver usually quotes in US dollars, not EC dollars. To hire a taxi for a tour of the island works out at about US$40 for two people, US$5 for additional passengers. Dispatchers are at the airport (T5054) and ferry (T6089), there is no central office.
Boat: The principal port is Sandy Ground, T6403. The service for the ferry between Blowing Point and Marigot starts at about 0730 and continues every 30-40 mins until 1900. You pay the US$2 departure tax after putting your name and passport number on the manifest (at booth at head of pier in Marigot or find the ferry clerk in the waiting area near Immigration Office) and before boarding at Marigot but you pay the fare on the boat. The same applies when leaving from Anguilla. Have your passport and tax receipt handy when boarding. Link Ferries run a high speed catamaran service from Blowing Point to Marigot, 0840, 1240, 1730, return 1120, 1430, 1800 and from Blowing Point to Juliana airport 1210, return 1400, complimentary drinks on board, help with luggage at airport, also private charters anytime, T2231/3290, F3290, www.ai/. On Tue, the MV Deluxe does a day trip to St Barths, T6289, F6322, leaves 0915, returns 1700, US$65 return.
Ferry: There is a ferry between Blowing Point (departure tax EC$5/US$2) and Marigot and St Martin which takes at least 20 mins and costs US$10 daytime, US$12 night-time, one way (pay on board). Taxis are available at the airport, the ferry terminal; rates are set by the government.
