Aruba Tennis and Beach Tennis

Aruba Tennis offers a wide range of tennis services to locals and visitors of our happy island, all ages and ability levels. For those visiting the island; take advantage of this perfect opportunity to brush up on your skills, improve your game, get a great work-out, meet other tennis players, and of course have fun, while you are in Aruba.

There are tennis courts at most major hotels. The Aruba Racquet Club is at Rooi Santo 21 in the Palm Beach area and has eight lit courts, an exhibition centre court, pro shop, pool, aerobics classes, fitness centre, bar and restaurant. There is usually an international tennis tournament in September.

They offer first class tennis instruction by certified tennis pros at most mayor resorts on the island. At their affiliated resorts they offer daily clinics, drills and tournaments that are complimentary to guests of the resort. If you are staying at any of the other resorts on the island, don’t worry; we provide free transportation to and from your hotel for any of our classes. Just let us know where you are staying, when you’d like to play and we will pick you up for your tennis session.

When you arrive on Aruba with a cruise ship, you have a very limited time on our island. Therefore it is important to plan your tennis session carefully and ahead. A one hour tennis class will not take you longer than one hour and fifteen minutes from and back to the ship. From the pier, you’ll go outside the terminal where you will see an assistant holding an Aruba Tennis sign with our logo (Aruba tennis logo).

From there you will be taken to the tennis courts by bus where your pro will be waiting for you. Explain the pro what you want to work on or what you have in mind for your class.

For the regular rates you’ll get extra: two bottles of water, transportation from and back to the ship, use of balls and use of towels. Also offer a racket rental service with various kinds of racket you want to play with brand/ model/ gripsize.

List Of Resorts Where You Can Play Tennis and Beach Tennis

The following is a list of affiliated resorts where daily free clinics, drills and tournaments are given open to guests of the resort:

Beach Tennis

To Aruba's own new sport: Beach Tennis. It involves a volleyball-sized court on the beach, a 2 meter high net, a tennis ball, rackets and two athletic teams who are well-versed in playing volleys. Then you have it: Beach Tennis.

Beach Tennis can be played both competitively and recreationally and because it's so simple to play, it appeals to athletes and non-athletes of all ages. It's like regular tennis except its played on a regulation beach volleyball court. Using paddle racquets, two players on each team volley back and forth, hitting a slightly depressurized tennis ball directly over the net without letting it bounce... it's hard to make the ball bounce on sand! One hit per team is all that is allowed.

Even if you are an absolute hack with other racquet sports, we guarantee that within half an hour you will start to show improvement, which is good enough for most people to want to have another go. There are 2 permanent courts at Moomba Beach Bar. Moomba Beach Bar is located between The Marriot and Holiday Inn.
Go to the souvernir shop "Beauty and the Beast" (also located at Moomba Beach Bar) to rent the paddle racquets and a ball for $5.

There's something for everyone at the Aruba Beach Club. Located directly on the beach. This family oriented timesharing resort boasts an Olympic size swimming pool, children's facilities, tennis courts, outstanding friendly service, clean, well maintained suites and of course the fabulous beach. This ultra new sport originated on the beaches of Brazil and a ranch in Holland, before it blew over to Aruba. This fast growing event is all about Fun, Sun and having a great work out on the beach.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Scoring is 15 - 30 - 40 and no-ad at deuce.
  • Only one hit per side, as in tennis and badminton. Unlike volleyball, there is no setting to your partner.
  • The ball may be served anywhere in the opponents court. Only one service attempt is allowed. If the ball touches the net, play continues.
  • Touching the net in any way or breaking the plane of the net; that is, reaching over the net with your racquet, even on the follow through - will result in a loss of the point.
  • Each match consists of one eight-game pro set. The match must be won by two games (e.g. 9-7). If the match score is tied at 8-8, a 12-point tennis tiebreaker (first team to 7 points wins) will be played to determine the winner.
  • Court size: 16 x 8m.
  • Surface: sand.
  • Paddle tennisracket
