One of the most highly regarded restaurants in Willemstad is The Wine Cellar on Concordiastraat, T4612178. Owned by chef Nico Cornelisie, a master rotisseur, in small old house, only 8 tables, chilly a/c, very good food but unexciting wine list, local fish and meat (ostrich) particularly good, reservations recommended, closed Sun.

Alouette, in a restored house, Orionweg 12, T4618222. Very popular, reservations recommended, French-style food, low-calorie or vegetarian meals available, comparatively small menu but changed frequently, except for the goat cheese crêpe which is such a favourite it is a permanent fixture, excellent food and service, attractive decor, open 1200-1430, 1900-2200, later at weekends. Grill King, in the Waterfort Arches, T4616870. Friendly and has good international food, open Mon-Sat 1100-2300, Sun 1700-2300. There are several restaurants in the Arches, nice variety, pleasant location, good for a meal or just drinks. Some other moderately priced yet good restaurants include Fort Waakzaamheid, T4621044. Lovely sunset views from the terrace on top of the fort, which is on a hill above Otrabanda, medieval atmosphere, restaurant and tavern, good food and menu, open daily 1200-1400, 1800-1030, reservations suggested, dinner US$15-20.
