Telephone Services

Cable & Wireless Grenada Ltd, T4401000, Email: gndi...@caribsurf.com, with offices on the Carenage, St George’s, operates telephone services, including USA Direct and calls to USA on Visa card, etc, at a fee, facsimile, telex, telegraph and cellular phones.


Payphones take coins or phone cards, available at outlets near payphones. Home Direct Service can be made from any phone, if you have a credit or telephone charge card, and is available to the UK through BT Direct and to Canada through Teleglobe. Credit card holders and Visaphone card holders’ access number is 1-800-8778000 for domestic and international calls. If you dial 1-800-8722881 at any public phone (no coin required), you get through to AT&T. A call to the UK costs approximately EC$37.50 for 5 mins. Grentel Boatphone provides mobile cellular phone service.

Postal Services

The General Post Office in St George’s is at Burns Point near the pier, south of the Carenage, open 0800-1600 Mon-Fri, only postage stamps are sold during the lunch hour, 1200-1300. Villages have sub-post offices.

Media

  • Newspapers: There are no daily papers, only weeklies, including Grenadian Voice, Indies Times, Grenada Guardian, The National, and The Informer.
  • Radio: There are four radio stations, on AM 535 kHz, AM 1440 kHz, FM 90 kHz and FM 101.7 kHz.
  • Television: There are two television stations but many hotels have satellite reception. Cable TV is being installed.
