An unusual fruit, the carambole, can be bought in Pointe-à-Pitre. The location of the markets is given above. Good Mamouth Supermarket near Le Raizet airport 3.50F by bus from Pointe-à-Pitre.

There are lots of hypermarkets just like in France, stocked with excellent cheese counters and massive wine departments (both French only of course). They also sell chemist sundries, toys, electrical equipment, film, cameras etc. Most have film processing facilities where prints will be ready in 24 hours or less. Generally open Monday to Saturday 0800-2030. Expensive, everything imported from France. In Gosier there is a supermarket on the road to Plage de l’Anse Canot, open on Sunday, otherwise hypermarkets are better value and cleaner.
