Nearly all public telephones are cardphones except a few in bars and hotels which take coins. At the PTT office in Rue Antoine Siger, just off the Savane, there are numerous card and coin phones and Télécartes (phone cards) are sold. These can also be bought in most newsagents, cafés, and some shops for 36.50F upwards. A 50-unit card (about US$8) lasts nearly 4 mins when phoning North America; a 120-unit card costs about US$16.
