Getting There

Air

Scheduled direct flights from Europe, from France only, are with Air France, which has flights from Paris; Air Liberté flies from Paris; AOM French Airlines from Paris. Aerolyon from Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse. Air France also has direct flights from Cayenne, Caracas, Miami, Pointe-à-Pitre, Port-au-Prince. Ask Air France for youth fares if under 26, or for seasonal prices.


Nouvelles Frontières has charter flights from France. Air Guadeloupe has afternoon flights from San Juan, so same-day connections are possible from the USA. Air Guadeloupe flies from Miami. Local airlines include Air Guadeloupe which flies from Barbados, Canouan, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St Lucia, St Maarten, St-Martin, St Vincent and Union Island, Port-au-Prince, San Juan, Santo Domingo. Cubana from Havana, while LIAT flies from Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St Lucia and St Vincent.

Sea

Ports of Entry: (French Flag) Fort-de-France, St-Pierre, Le Marin. No fees or visas for EU or US citizens. French forms to clear in and out.

Anchorages: The facilities are among the best in the Caribbean. Anchorages at St-Pierre, Fort-de-France, Anse Mitan, Les Trois-Ilets, Anse Noir, Grand and Petit Anse d’Arlets, Ste-Anne, Cul-de-Sac Marin. Marinas at Fort-de-France, Les Trois-Ilets, Le Marin. The marina at Pointe du Bout is reported safe, but congested and hot. Major charter companies include Moorings Antilles at Club Nautique du Marin (T747539, F747644), Sun Sail (Soleil et Voile, Capitainerie Marina Pointo du Bout, T660914), and Stardust (Port de Plaisance du Marin, T749817, F749812). Many other smaller companies. Excellent provisioning, stock up on French wines. For those looking to hitch on a boat, consult the noticeboards at the Yacht Clubs, especially the bar at the Public Jetty and refuelling at the west end of Boulevard Alfassa on the Baie des Flamands.
