Taxis: There are plenty of taxis, with controlled fares depending on the distance and number of people, no meters. You find them next to the tourist office in Marigot, T875654, in Grand-Case, T877579. From Juliana airport to Marigot about US$10, Marigot to Grand Case US$10, Marigot to Oyster Pond, US$26, 2½-hr island tour US$50, add 25% 2200-2400 and 50% 2400-0600. It is easy to hitchhike.
Bus: Buses run from Marigot to Grand Case (terminal at Star Market gas station) (US$1) and from Marigot, French Quarters and St Peters to Philipsburg, normally from 0600-2200, every 15 mins approximately, US$1.50. Traffic jams on Sat evening cause serious delays.
Bicycles: Scooter rental from US$20 per day including helmets and insurance from Concordia, T871424, and Eugene Moto, T871397.
Besides the ferry to Anguilla (see Anguilla Getting There), connections can be made with Saint-Barthélémy; St Barts Express, T879903, twice daily except Sun and holidays, departs Gustavia 0715, 1530, departs Marigot market place 0900, 1715 (see St. Barts Before Travelling - Hours of Business for further details). Voyager high speed ferries linking St-Martin with St-Barts (and Saba) depart Marigot waterfront 0845 Mon-Sat, 1½ hrs, depart Gustavia 1600, US$50 return plus US$6 port fees, T871068. Can be an unpleasant trip. If rough, take the plane. Try putting a notice up at the Capiteneri Marina Port La Royale for hitching a lift to other islands.
