Money Exchange:

The US dollar is as widely used as the franc, but watch the rate. Credit card transactions are usually in US$. It is sometimes difficult to get change from payments in francs. Dollars are preferred. The best place for exchange is the post office in Marigot where they will change all currencies and travelers’ cheques, but normally only into francs. There are several exchange houses for changing from francs to dollars, one in rue du Kennedy and one in the Marina Royale complex. Two banks, both on rue de la République, Marigot, Banque des Antilles Françaises and Banque Française Commerciale.

Banks with ATMs include Banque des Antilles Françaises (BDAF), Rue de la République, Marigot, T875331. Banque Française Commerciale (BFC), Bellevue, T875380. Banque Inchauspe & Cie, Rue Général de Gaulle, T872121.

Hours of Business:

Shops open around 0900 and close between 1800-1900 with normally a 2-hour lunch break between 1200-1500, depending on the shop. Banks open 0830-1530 Monday-Thursday, till 1630 on Friday; both slightly different from the Dutch side.
