Excursions in Sint Maarten

You can take a day trip round the island, visiting the ruined Fort Amsterdam overlooking Philipsburg and the French part of the island. It is well worth having lunch in one of the many French restaurants in Grand Case or the other French villages.

Generally, however, there is not much of either historical or natural interest to see on the island, and most excursions are day trips to neighbouring islands: Anguilla, St Barthélémy, Saba, St Eustatius, St Kitts or Nevis, either by boat (see Beaches & Watersports) or by plane. Timeshare resorts such as Pelican and Divi Little Bay offer trips to other islands and excursions in return for listening to their sales pitch.
