Airport Information: RL Bradshaw International, St Kitts’ main airport, is two miles from Basseterre (a 2 min walk to the bus stop at the roundabout northeast of Independence Square, EC$1.25 return the Bassterre).

There is also an airport on Nevis, at Newcastle airfield, seven miles from Charlestown (on the main road, bus to Charlestown EC$3.50), served by LIAT, Winair, Coastal Air Transport and light charter aircraft from St Kitts, Anguilla, Antigua, St-Barthélémy, St Croix and St Maarten. Expect to have your baggage searched on your way in to the island. Departure delays have been minimized by improved facilities on both islands. Nevis Express has up to 10 daily flights between St Kitts and Nevis. The grander hotels on Nevis will arrange chartered air transfers from Antigua or St Kitts for their guests (for instance, Carib Aviation from Antigua), highly recommended to avoid the crush.
Ports of Entry: (Own flag). List all anchorage stops on cruising permit at the Port Authority in Basseterre and clear with immigration in Nevis. Charges are EC$20 up to 20 tons, EC$35 up to 30 tons, EC$38 up to 50 tons. Port dues EC$6-25 based on size. There is no additional charge in Nevis once you have cleared in St Kitts.
Anchorages: Port Zante Marina in Basseterre, White House and Ballast Bay are the best on St Kitts, Oualie Beach on Nevis is beautiful. Good groceries, alcoholic drinks, laundry, propane. Can have fuel delivered to dock and buy water by the cubic ton. Marina charges including water: under 40ft, US$0.40 per foot; 40-70ft, US$0.60; over 70ft, US$1.20. The new port in Basseterre is Port Zante, which can accommodate two of the largest cruise ships (an increasingly popular way to visit the island) and will eventually boast a huge hotel, casino and many shops, although at present it is landscaped with flowers, grass and bushes and a smattering of buildings under construction.
