The Parrot Cay Resort, a luxury, 56-room hotel, was built in 1992 on this 1,300-acre private island, but it only opened in December 1998. The furniture is Indonesian, some of the staff are Asian and the food is Asian-influenced. You can have a Thai, Balinese or Swedish massage. Cotton used to be grown here and there are the remains of a plantation house. The wetlands and mangroves are to be preserved to protect wildlife.
