St. Croix
St.Croix, the largest island of the USVI, has a terrain much gentler than St.Thomas and St.John. The rolling fields have given the island a rich agricultural heritage and, as a result, the pace of life is more relaxed here than on St.Thomas.Cattle graze on the hillsides, goats scamper up the rocks, and fruit and vegetable gardens cover much of the island.

Fewer tourists are attracted to St.Croix than St. Thomas, which means its beaches and other attractions are less congested and better for undisturbed exploration. Scattered throughout the island are the remains of former vast plantations, the crumbling ruins now covered by purple blooms of the bougainvillea.

Historic towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted house many fine stores and restaurants. Shop hours are normally from 10-5. Monday through Saturday. Just east of Christiansted is the Gallow Bay Marketplace.

Although St.Croix does not receive enough precipitation to qualify as having a true rain forest, its northwestern section does have some rain forest- type vegetation such as giant kapok and mahogany trees; a vast variety of orchids and epiphytes live on these and other host trees.

In contrast to the lush vegetation of the rain forest, cactus and desert-type plants thrive on the arid eastern point of the island. Just north of St.Croix is Buck Island Reef National Monument. The island invites exploration on foot, while an underwater trail marks the beauty of the coral reef.

St. John

Mongoose Junction and Wharfside Village offer a variety of items from fine jewelry to batik fabric creations. Major hotels offer boutique shops.

St. Thomas

Main street offers a myriad of shopping from fine jewerly to designer clothing. For more shopping, stroll along Back Street, the Waterfront and walkways. Head out of town to other shopping centers such as Havensight Mall, Tutu Park Mall and American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook.
